Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive EHS policies, procedures, and management systems compliant with UK HSE regulations (HSE Act 1974, Management Regulations).
- Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and internal audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Lead investigations into accidents, near-misses, and incidents to determine root causes and recommend systemic changes to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure full certification and maintenance of ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) standards.
- Deliver engaging safety training programs and toolbox talks to employees at all levels, fostering a proactive safety culture.
- Collaborate with department heads to integrate EHS considerations into project planning and operational processes.
- Manage the EHS budget, including training costs, PPE procurement, and safety equipment upgrades.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an EHS Manager, Health & Safety Officer, or similar role (minimum 5 years) within a corporate or industrial environment.
- Relevant professional certification such as NEBOSH General Certificate or National Diploma is mandatory.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of UK HSE legislation, environmental laws, and ISO management systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence behavior change across diverse teams.
- Proficiency in EHS management software (e.g., SAP EHS, Intelex, or similar) and data analysis tools.
