Responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategy: Develop, implement, and maintain the company's EHS management system (EHSMS) aligned with ISO 45001 and OSHA standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor changes in local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., Cal-OSHA, EPA) and ensure the organization remains fully compliant.
- Risk Management: Conduct comprehensive site audits, job hazard analyses (JHA), and safety inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Incident Investigation: Lead the investigation of all workplace incidents, near-misses, and injuries to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Training & Education: Design and deliver engaging safety training programs for all levels of staff, from executive leadership to field operators.
- Emergency Preparedness: Oversee the development and testing of emergency response plans, including fire safety, chemical spills, and evacuation drills.
- Reporting: Prepare accurate EHS reports for executive leadership and external regulatory bodies.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Engineering, or a related field is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in EHS management within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Certifications: Professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA regulations, hazardous material handling, and environmental permitting.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex safety data to non-technical audiences.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with EHS management software (e.g., SAP EHS, Intelex) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead teams and influence organizational culture regarding safety.
