Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive EHS programs and policies in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Conduct regular EHS audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance, recommending and tracking corrective measures.
- Provide expert guidance and training to employees and management on EHS best practices, new regulations, and emergency preparedness.
- Manage hazardous waste disposal, air emissions, wastewater discharge, and other environmental compliance activities.
- Oversee the administration of Workers' Compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and HR departments to integrate EHS considerations into all aspects of the business.
- Prepare and submit required EHS reports to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in EHS management, preferably within a manufacturing, industrial, or energy sector environment.
- Certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) are highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing effective EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and lead change.
- Experience with EHS software systems and data analysis for performance tracking.
- Ability to respond to emergencies and manage crisis situations effectively.
