Responsibilities
- System Design & Analysis: Lead the end-to-end design of electrical power distribution systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution networks using industry-standard tools like ETAP and PSCAD.
- Technical Leadership: Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on complex power system problems, ensuring compliance with IEEE and NEC standards.
- Project Management: Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for high-stakes engineering initiatives, acting as the primary liaison between clients and the engineering department.
- Simulation & Modeling: Conduct detailed load flow, short-circuit, and stability studies to optimize system performance and mitigate potential failures.
- Equipment Specification: Select and specify high-voltage equipment, transformers, and protective relays, ensuring cost-effectiveness and reliability.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all designs adhere to strict safety regulations and environmental impact assessments.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) required.
- Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in power systems engineering, preferably within the renewable energy or utility sector.
- Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred.
- Software Proficiency: Expert level in CAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and power system simulation software (ETAP, PSCAD, or MATLAB/Simulink).
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex technical data to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical mindset with a proven track record of troubleshooting complex electrical issues.
