Responsibilities
- Lead the complete electrical design lifecycle of complex power distribution, substation, and control systems.
- Conduct advanced power system studies, including short-circuit, arc flash hazard analysis, and protective device coordination using ETAP or SKM.
- Develop high-quality electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring layouts, and panel assemblies using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, civil, and software engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration and performance.
- Perform detailed calculations for cable sizing, conduit fill, voltage drop, and thermal management in accordance with project requirements.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and design reviews for junior engineers and drafters within the department.
- Oversee factory acceptance testing (FAT) and field commissioning activities to troubleshoot and validate complex system operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited institution; Master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in electrical hardware design or power systems engineering.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas, or the capability to obtain licensure via comity within 6 months.
- Expertise in utilizing AutoCAD Electrical and power simulation software (ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower).
- In-depth, working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEEE, and UL standards.
- Demonstrated experience managing electrical projects from conceptual design through execution and handover.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
