Responsibilities
- Design and optimize drilling programs, including wellbore trajectory planning and casing designs, to ensure maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate closely with geoscientists, reservoir engineers, and field operations teams to integrate geological data into drilling strategies.
- Monitor real-time drilling parameters and wellbore conditions to proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards or drilling difficulties.
- Conduct detailed risk assessments and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) evaluations for all drilling operations.
- Manage project budgets and timelines, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within financial constraints.
- Lead technical reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers and drilling crews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in drilling engineering within the upstream oil and gas sector.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is highly desirable.
- Proven expertise in drilling fluid systems, well control procedures, and directional drilling techniques.
- Proficient in industry-standard software such as Landmark, DrillingInfo, or similar reservoir and drilling modeling tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and make sound engineering decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting technical reports to executive stakeholders and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
