Responsibilities
- Design and optimize drilling programs for vertical, horizontal, and multi-lateral wells using advanced software (Petrel, Drilling Office)
- Conduct real-time drilling surveillance and provide expert recommendations for well trajectory adjustments
- Develop comprehensive drilling cost estimates and AFEs with 15% accuracy tolerance
- Lead root cause analysis of drilling incidents and implement corrective action plans
- Mentor junior engineers and conduct technical training on drilling best practices
- Interface with service companies to ensure equipment performance meets operational targets
- Prepare detailed well completion and stimulation plans aligned with reservoir characteristics
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (MS preferred)
- 8+ years of upstream drilling engineering experience with deepwater or unconventional wells
- Proficiency in drilling hydraulics modeling and pressure control management
- Certification as a Drilling Engineer (SPE) or Well Control Supervisor (IWCF)
- Demonstrated success in reducing drilling costs by 20% through innovative solutions
- Experience with automated drilling systems (e.g., AutoTrak, Smart Sticks)
- Strong knowledge of US regulatory frameworks (CFR 30, API RP 65)
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with ability to make decisions under pressure
