Responsibilities
- Evaluate and analyze complex commercial property and casualty risks to determine insurability.
- Manage a high-value portfolio while maintaining strict adherence to underwriting guidelines and loss ratios.
- Cultivate and maintain long-term, profitable relationships with regional brokerage partners.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions on renewal and new business accounts.
- Mentor junior underwriting staff and participate in peer reviews to ensure technical accuracy.
- Collaborate with the actuarial team to refine pricing models for niche market segments.
- Monitor market trends and competitive landscape to adjust underwriting strategies proactively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of commercial lines underwriting experience with a focus on middle-market accounts.
- Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or AU designation is highly preferred.
- Strong technical proficiency in P&C coverage forms, regulatory requirements, and risk modeling.
- Exceptional analytical, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage time-sensitive projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and insurance underwriting software systems.
