Responsibilities
- Evaluate complex commercial property and casualty risks to determine insurability and pricing.
- Analyze loss trends and portfolio performance to optimize underwriting strategy.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key brokers and stakeholders.
- Mentor junior underwriters and provide technical guidance on policy endorsements.
- Ensure compliance with state regulations and internal corporate underwriting guidelines.
- Lead high-stakes negotiations on premium terms and policy structures.
- Participate in periodic audits to maintain underwriting integrity and risk standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of commercial underwriting experience in a mid-to-large carrier setting.
- Professional designation preferred (e.g., CPCU, AU, or ARM).
- Expert proficiency in analyzing complex financial statements and risk modeling data.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical risk decisions clearly.
- Proven ability to manage a diverse, high-volume pipeline in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced proficiency in industry-standard underwriting software and MS Office Suite.
