Responsibilities
- Analyze and evaluate complex commercial insurance risks, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and appetite.
- Develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with key regional brokers and agency partners.
- Manage a high-value portfolio, consistently meeting production and profitability targets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including claims, actuarial, and risk engineering departments.
- Mentor junior underwriters and provide guidance on technical risk assessment methodologies.
- Lead renewal negotiations for high-exposure accounts to ensure retention and premium growth.
- Stay ahead of emerging industry trends and market shifts to pivot strategies effectively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience, specifically in Middle Market or Large Accounts.
- Deep knowledge of policy forms, rating plans, and regulatory requirements.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AU are highly preferred.
- Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in industry-standard underwriting software and CRM tools.
- Ability to demonstrate a proven track record of profitable book management.
