- Analyze complex commercial insurance risks, ensuring adherence to corporate underwriting guidelines and authority levels.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with independent agents and brokerage partners.
- Conduct thorough financial and operational risk assessments for diverse commercial accounts.
- Monitor portfolio performance, identify trends, and implement strategic corrective actions.
- Mentor junior underwriters and provide technical guidance on complex policy renewals.
- Collaborate with claims and loss control departments to enhance risk selection and mitigation.
- Utilize advanced data analytics to support informed, data-driven underwriting decisions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience with a focus on middle-market accounts.
- Advanced knowledge of property and casualty insurance principles and policy language.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AU are highly preferred.
- Exceptional negotiation skills and a proven ability to influence stakeholders.
- Proficiency in industry-standard underwriting software and MS Office Suite.
- Strong analytical mindset with a high level of attention to detail.
