Responsibilities
- Analyze and evaluate complex commercial risk submissions, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and profitability targets.
- Manage a high-value portfolio of accounts, maintaining strong relationships with retail and wholesale brokers.
- Lead negotiation strategies for policy terms, conditions, and pricing structures for large-scale accounts.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to adjust underwriting strategies proactively.
- Collaborate with the Claims and Legal departments to resolve coverage inquiries and mitigate potential losses.
- Mentor junior underwriters and provide technical guidance on challenging case files.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new commercial product lines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in Commercial Lines Underwriting (General Liability, Property, or Umbrella).
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AU are highly preferred.
- Deep understanding of state filing requirements and regulatory compliance standards.
- Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Proven track record of managing a multi-million dollar book of business with consistent loss ratio performance.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills with a client-centric mindset.
