Responsibilities
- Evaluate and price complex commercial property and casualty risks within established underwriting guidelines.
- Manage a high-volume portfolio while maintaining superior service standards for key brokerage partners.
- Analyze loss trends and financial statements to assess risk exposure and provide actionable insights.
- Collaborate with risk control and claims departments to ensure holistic risk management strategies.
- Mentor junior underwriting staff and contribute to the development of departmental underwriting strategies.
- Negotiate terms and conditions to balance growth objectives with profitability targets.
- Participate in industry networking events to maintain a competitive market edge.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting (Property/Casualty focus).
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or CIC are highly preferred.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Proven ability to foster and maintain strong relationships with brokers and stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in insurance software systems and data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, etc.).
- Demonstrated knowledge of state-specific insurance regulations and market trends.
