Responsibilities
- Analyze and underwrite complex commercial insurance applications in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and authority limits.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and agency partners to drive new business development.
- Monitor portfolio performance, identifying trends and adjusting strategies to maintain profitability and risk appetite.
- Collaborate with risk control and claims departments to resolve complex coverage and loss-related issues.
- Lead regional underwriting initiatives and contribute to the development of new product offerings.
- Mentor junior underwriters and provide technical guidance on challenging accounts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Commercial Lines underwriting (Property & Casualty focus).
- Professional designation preferred (e.g., CPCU, CIC, ARM).
- Expertise in interpreting complex financial statements and loss runs.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to articulate risk appetite to brokers.
- Proficiency in industry-standard underwriting software and data analytics platforms.
