Responsibilities
- Evaluate complex commercial property and casualty risks to determine insurability and profitability.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with high-value brokers and agency partners.
- Maintain a high-quality, diversified underwriting portfolio while meeting individual production goals.
- Mentor junior underwriters and assist in the development of underwriting guidelines.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and site inspections as required to minimize loss ratios.
- Collaborate with the Claims and Legal departments to resolve coverage disputes and claims patterns.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to adjust regional underwriting strategy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in commercial lines underwriting.
- Demonstrated proficiency with P&C insurance regulations and compliance standards.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial data and loss runs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing high-stakes stakeholders.
- Industry designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AU are highly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and industry-standard underwriting software.
