Responsibilities
- Analyze and underwrite complex commercial risks including property, casualty, and umbrella lines.
- Develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with top-tier insurance brokers and producers.
- Assess risk appetite and pricing strategies to ensure portfolio profitability and growth.
- Negotiate terms and conditions while maintaining adherence to underwriting guidelines and regulatory standards.
- Mentor junior underwriters and provide technical guidance on complex account structures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including claims and loss control, to assess overall account quality.
- Identify emerging market trends and contribute to the refinement of underwriting products and strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting within an insurance carrier environment.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AU strongly preferred.
- Exceptional analytical skills with a proven track record of managing profitable portfolios.
- Expert-level knowledge of ISO forms, rating manuals, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with a client-centric approach.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and industry-standard underwriting software.
