Responsibilities
- Analyze and evaluate complex commercial insurance risks to determine eligibility and pricing.
- Manage an assigned book of business, ensuring profitability and retention targets are exceeded.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with key brokerage partners to secure profitable new business.
- Collaborate with the actuarial team to refine underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
- Mentor junior underwriters and provide technical guidance on complex coverage matters.
- Ensure full compliance with state regulatory requirements and internal underwriting audits.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to adjust strategy in real-time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience (Property & Casualty focus).
- Professional designation preferred (e.g., CPCU, ARM, or CIC).
- Expert knowledge of policy forms, rating plans, and state-specific regulatory nuances.
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills with a proven track record of broker management.
- Strong analytical ability with proficiency in underwriting software and data modeling tools.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven corporate environment.
