Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Lead and manage complex civil engineering projects from conception through to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Technical Design: Prepare detailed engineering designs, calculations, and specifications for roads, bridges, drainage systems, and other civil infrastructure.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all designs and construction methods comply with local, regional, and national building codes, regulations, and safety standards (UK Building Regulations, Health & Safety Executive guidelines).
- Stakeholder Management: Communicate effectively with clients, architects, contractors, and regulatory bodies to resolve issues and present technical solutions.
- Site Supervision: Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality control, and identify potential risks or delays.
- Budget Management: Assist in the preparation of project budgets and monitor expenditure to ensure financial efficiency.
- Team Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and graduate trainees.
Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or Master’s degree preferred) from an accredited institution.
- Experience: A minimum of 5-8 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with a focus on infrastructure projects.
- Professional Registration: Fully Chartered status (ICE - Institution of Civil Engineers) is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, and other relevant design software.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of UK planning laws, environmental regulations, and construction standards.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to risk management.
