Responsibilities
- Lead design and execution of large-scale civil projects including transportation networks, water systems, and structural foundations
- Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and compliance reviews for municipal and private developments
- Develop detailed engineering plans using BIM/CIM technologies with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit
- Coordinate with stakeholders (agencies, contractors, clients) ensuring regulatory compliance and budget adherence
- Mentor junior engineers while maintaining quality control through design reviews and construction oversight
- Implement sustainable engineering practices and innovative materials for resilient infrastructure
- Manage project lifecycle from conception through commissioning using industry-standard methodologies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with PE licensure in Illinois
- 8+ years progressive experience in municipal infrastructure or heavy civil construction
- Expertise in structural analysis, geotechnical engineering, and transportation planning
- Proficiency with engineering software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, MathCAD) and BIM workflows
- Proven track record of managing projects exceeding $10M in value
- Strong knowledge of local codes (Chicago Building Code, IDOT standards) and federal regulations
- LEED AP certification or equivalent sustainability credentials preferred
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with ability to optimize complex engineering solutions
