Responsibilities
- Direct Fleet Operations: Oversee the daily dispatching, routing, and scheduling of a diverse fleet of vehicles to ensure timely deliveries and customer satisfaction.
- Maintenance Management: Develop and enforce rigorous preventive maintenance schedules to minimize vehicle downtime and extend operational lifespan.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and company safety protocols to maintain a zero-accident culture.
- Cost Control: Analyze fuel consumption, repair costs, and labor expenses to identify trends and implement cost-saving measures.
- Team Leadership: Mentor dispatchers and drivers, fostering a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement.
- Vendor Relations: Manage relationships with external mechanics, garages, and logistics partners to ensure quality service.
- Reporting: Prepare and present operational reports to senior management to track KPIs and strategic goals.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in fleet management or transportation operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
- Certifications: Valid CDL is a plus; strong familiarity with DOT/FMCSA regulations is mandatory.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and fleet tracking software (e.g., Geotab, Samsara).
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present data clearly to stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot logistical challenges under pressure.
