Responsibilities
- Oversee daily fleet operations, including scheduling, dispatching, and route planning to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Manage vendor relationships for vehicle maintenance, repairs, and inspections to ensure fleet reliability and compliance.
- Implement and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as fuel consumption, vehicle uptime, and driver safety scores.
- Ensure full compliance with all local, provincial, and federal transportation regulations and safety standards.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of logistics coordinators and junior managers to foster a culture of safety and accountability.
- Analyze operational costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction through route optimization and fuel-efficient driving practices.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to manage fleet acquisition, leasing, and disposal strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management, logistics coordination, or transportation operations.
- Strong working knowledge of fleet management software (e.g., Samsara, Geotab) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is a significant asset.
- Proven track record in managing budgets and reducing operational costs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead diverse teams.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make critical decisions under pressure.
