The Culinary Collective is seeking an Executive Sous Chef to join our award-winning flagship restaurant in the heart of Chicago's West Loop. You will work directly with the Executive Chef to oversee kitchen operations, mentor our brigade, and maintain the highest standards of quality in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily kitchen operations, including mise-en-place, prep schedules, and line execution.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu development and seasonal dish conceptualization.
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and sanitation protocols.
- Monitor food costs, inventory management, and waste reduction strategies.
- Lead, train, and develop junior chefs and kitchen staff through hands-on mentorship.
- Oversee quality control of all plates leaving the kitchen to ensure brand standards.
- Coordinate with front-of-house management to ensure seamless guest service.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a fine dining or Michelin-recognized kitchen.
- Proven track record of leadership in a high-volume restaurant environment.
- Advanced culinary skills, particularly in modern plating and flavor profiling.
- Strong understanding of P&L management, food cost control, and inventory systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead under pressure.
- Current ServSafe Manager Certification required.
- Degree from an accredited culinary arts program is highly preferred.
