Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage the organization’s Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) management system to ensure full compliance with provincial and federal regulations (e.g., OHSR, CEPA).
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Lead and coordinate incident investigations, including root cause analysis, and prepare comprehensive reports for regulatory bodies.
- Deliver engaging safety training programs and workshops to foster a strong safety culture among employees and contractors.
- Monitor environmental performance metrics, including waste management, emissions, and resource usage, to drive continuous improvement.
- Liaise with government agencies, auditors, and external consultants to maintain a clean compliance record.
- Advocate for sustainable practices that reduce environmental footprint while maintaining operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in EHS management, preferably within the construction, manufacturing, or engineering sectors.
- Professional designation such as CRSP, CSP, CIH, or CHIM is highly desired.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian environmental legislation, including BC WorkSafeBC regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and regulatory codes.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence behavior and drive change.
- Proficiency in EHS software and MS Office Suite.
