Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and programs in accordance with local, provincial, and federal regulations (CCOHS, OSHA, EPA).
- Conduct regular site audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis to prevent recurrence and improve safety protocols.
- Manage the EHS training program, ensuring all employees receive mandatory safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, GHS).
- Monitor environmental performance metrics and prepare detailed reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with department heads to integrate safety into daily operations and project planning.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional designation such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or CHST (Canadian Health and Safety Technician) is preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in EHS management within a corporate environment.
- Deep understanding of Canadian environmental regulations and workplace safety laws.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and implement corrective actions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to train and influence diverse teams.
- Proficiency in EHS management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
