Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS policies, procedures, and programs that align with OSHA, CCOHS, and provincial regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Manage the investigation of incidents, near-misses, and accidents to ensure root cause analysis and the development of effective prevention strategies.
- Lead safety training programs and toolbox talks to ensure all employees are aware of safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports, including environmental impact assessments and internal safety statistics.
- Monitor and manage the EHS budget, including training costs, PPE, and audit expenses.
- Act as the primary liaison with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and auditors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Certification such as CRSP, CSP, CHRL, or NEBOSH is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in EHS management, preferably within the industrial or construction sector.
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian environmental legislation (CEPA, EPA) and occupational health laws.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting complex data to senior management.
- Proficiency in EHS management software and MS Office Suite.
