Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure strict adherence to local, provincial, and federal environmental regulations (e.g., WorkSafeBC, EPA, OSHA).
  • Safety Audits: Conduct thorough internal safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead the investigation of workplace incidents and near-misses to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Training & Education: Develop and deliver engaging safety training programs and workshops for employees at all levels.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety performance, inspection reports, and regulatory filings.
  • Continuous Improvement: Assist in the development and implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and ISO 45001 standards.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certification: Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), or CSP designation is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in EHS, industrial hygiene, or a related discipline.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in EHS software (e.g., Arcoro, Cority) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence behavior change.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them practically.
