Job Description
Are you a visionary Mechanical Engineer ready to shape the future of transportation? Apex Innovations Manufacturing is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead our automotive design initiatives in the heart of Austin's innovation corridor. In this pivotal role, you will drive the engineering lifecycle from concept to mass production, utilizing cutting-edge simulation tools and manufacturing methodologies.
As a key member of our R&D team, you will collaborate with cross-functional groups including software, materials science, and production to deliver high-performance, cost-effective solutions. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about pushing the boundaries of engineering, we want to meet you.
Responsibilities
- Lead Mechanical Design: Conceptualize, design, and develop complex automotive components using advanced CAD software (SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or AutoCAD).
- Simulation & Analysis: Perform rigorous finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to validate design integrity under various load conditions.
- Prototyping & Testing: Oversee the creation of functional prototypes and conduct physical testing to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
- Manufacturing Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing engineers to optimize designs for tooling, assembly, and cost-efficiency.
- Project Management: Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables within Agile development cycles.
- Technical Documentation: Create detailed engineering drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and technical specifications for internal and external stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve complex engineering challenges that arise during the development lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design, preferably within the automotive or heavy machinery industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D modeling, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and FEA software.
- Software Proficiency: Expert level in SolidWorks or similar CAD platforms.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of manufacturing processes (injection molding, CNC machining, metal forming) and materials science.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical data to non-technical audiences.
- Tools: Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems like PTC Windchill or Siemens Teamcenter.
