Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end transportation operations including fleet management, route optimization, and carrier relationships
- Develop and implement sustainable transportation strategies to reduce carbon footprint while maintaining delivery timelines
- Analyze logistics data using advanced analytics to identify cost-saving opportunities and performance improvements
- Manage cross-functional teams including dispatchers, drivers, and warehouse personnel
- Ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations and industry safety standards
- Collaborate with procurement to negotiate favorable carrier contracts and service agreements
- Lead crisis management for transportation disruptions and emergency response protocols
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field (MBA preferred)
- Minimum 7 years of progressive transportation management experience with multi-modal operations
- Expertise in transportation management systems (TMS) and route optimization software
- Proven track record of reducing transportation costs by 15%+ while improving service levels
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret logistics KPIs and performance metrics
- Valid CDL Class A license (or equivalent industry certification)
- Experience managing unionized transportation teams and labor relations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SAP, and emerging logistics technologies
