Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons by performing scrub nurse duties during major operating theatre procedures.
- Prepare the operating room, ensuring all necessary surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and condition throughout the perioperative period.
- Provide comprehensive pre-operative and post-operative care and education to patients.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Document patient care activities accurately and maintain detailed medical records.
- Manage inventory and ensure proper maintenance of surgical equipment and instruments.
- Collaborate effectively with the surgical team to facilitate efficient workflow in the Day Surgery unit.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid practicing license from the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in an Operating Theatre or Day Surgery setting.
- Proficiency in scrub nursing for various surgical specialties is highly advantageous.
- Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to respond effectively to medical emergencies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centric approach.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Commitment to professional development and continuous learning.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of other local languages is a plus for patient rapport.
