Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the transportation department, including dispatch, routing, and carrier management.
- Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery rates, fuel efficiency, and cost per mile to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategic transportation plans to meet customer demand while minimizing operational costs.
- Ensure strict compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and local regulations regarding safety and driver hours.
- Manage relationships with third-party carriers and negotiate contracts to secure the best rates and service levels.
- Lead, mentor, and train a team of logistics coordinators and dispatchers to foster a culture of excellence.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in transportation management, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Strong working knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA compliance, and hazardous material handling (if applicable).
- Proficiency in TMS software (e.g., Oracle, Manhattan Associates) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven track record of budget management and cost reduction initiatives.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
