Responsibilities
- Oversee daily fleet operations, including dispatching, routing, and scheduling to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Manage and mentor a diverse team of transportation coordinators and drivers, fostering a culture of safety and efficiency.
- Analyze logistics data to identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements to reduce costs and increase throughput.
- Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations, FMCSA standards, and company safety policies.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to negotiate carrier contracts and manage third-party logistics (3PL) relationships.
- Prepare and review operational reports, including KPI tracking (on-time performance, accident rates, fuel consumption).
- Lead incident investigations and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in transportation management, logistics operations, or fleet management.
- Strong working knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, and HAZMAT handling procedures.
- Proven track record of leading teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously in a high-volume environment.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Manugistics).
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions under pressure.
- Valid Driver’s License (CDL not required for management role but preferred).
