Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local corporate income tax returns, ensuring 100% accuracy and compliance with current regulations.
- Conduct in-depth tax research and analysis to identify tax savings opportunities and optimize tax strategies for clients.
- Oversee the tax provision process and assist in the preparation of financial statements for audit.
- Manage and mentor a team of junior tax associates, providing training and guidance on complex tax issues.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding tax inquiries, audits, and notices from state and federal agencies.
- Collaborate with the accounting and audit teams to ensure seamless integration of tax data into financial reporting.
- Stay current with changes in tax laws and implement necessary process improvements within the department.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation (Master’s degree preferred).
- Active CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification required.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in corporate tax preparation, planning, and compliance.
- Strong working knowledge of US tax code (IRC) and relevant state tax regulations.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., ProSystem fx Tax, Drake, UltraTax) and Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables).
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
