Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design, implementation, and optimization of secure, high-availability system architectures for federal applications.
  • Ensure strict compliance with FedRAMP, NIST SP 800-53, and agency-specific security mandates and standards.
  • Oversee the strategic migration of legacy on-premise systems to secure, scalable cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
  • Conduct comprehensive threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate security risks.
  • Develop and enforce infrastructure-as-code (IaC) strategies using Terraform and Ansible to ensure consistency and reduce deployment errors.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, conducting code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Respond to and troubleshoot critical system incidents during high-stakes operational windows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related Engineering field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in Systems Engineering or DevOps, with at least 2 years in the public sector or defense contracting.
  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance (required).
  • Certification: CISSP, Security+, GSEC, or equivalent advanced certification.
  • Deep expertise in Linux/Windows system administration, scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder reporting and technical documentation.
