Responsibilities
- Design and execute cutting-edge experiments in polymer synthesis and nanomaterial characterization
- Lead cross-functional teams of 5-7 researchers in developing sustainable material prototypes
- Drive innovation through literature reviews, patent analysis, and competitive intelligence
- Present findings to executive stakeholders and publish in peer-reviewed journals
- Secure and manage $500K+ annual research budgets
- Mentor junior scientists and optimize lab workflows
Qualifications
- PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, or related field with 5+ years industry experience
- Proven track record in polymer/nanomaterial R&D with 3+ patents or publications
- Expertise in advanced characterization techniques (SEM, TEM, AFM)
- Experience securing federal grants (NSF, DOE) or corporate R&D funding
- Strong project management skills with PMP certification preferred
- Proficiency in Python/R for data analysis and experimental design
- Excellent communication skills for technical and executive audiences
