We are looking for a meticulous and experienced individual to maintain our reputation for diagnostic accuracy and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the histology laboratory, ensuring all diagnostic processes are accurate, timely, and compliant with MHRA and ISO 15189 regulations.
- Perform complex tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining procedures with a focus on precision and quality control.
- Supervise and mentor a team of junior technologists and laboratory assistants, providing guidance on technical procedures and quality assurance.
- Perform critical analysis of tissue samples and contribute to the final diagnosis in complex pathology cases.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, troubleshooting technical issues to minimize downtime.
- Ensure strict adherence to health and safety protocols and biosafety level 2 (BSL-2) containment guidelines.
- Participate in internal and external quality assurance audits to maintain accreditation standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science, Medical Technology, or a related life science field (MBBCh/MLSc equivalent).
- Mandatory: Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in a clinical pathology laboratory, with a specific focus on Histopathology or Cytology.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS) and digital pathology platforms (e.g., Pathology Informatics).
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a high-volume environment.
- Proven track record of leading teams and implementing process improvements.
