Responsibilities
- Analyze medical documentation to assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes.
- Review claims for denials and rejections, identifying trends to implement corrective actions.
- Perform internal audits and quality assurance checks to ensure 100% compliance with coding guidelines.
- Collaborate with physicians and nurses to clarify clinical documentation requirements.
- Stay updated on the latest CMS guidelines, ICD-10 updates, and regulatory changes.
- Mentor junior coders and participate in training sessions to improve departmental coding efficiency.
- Manage high-volume coding assignments while adhering to strict turnaround times.
Qualifications
- Certification preferred: RHIT, RHIA, CPC, CCS, or CCS-P.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in a hospital or ambulatory care setting.
- Proficient in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Excellent analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines.
- Valid US work authorization required.
