Responsibilities
- Review medical records and assign appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes with high accuracy.
- Perform regular audits of medical documentation to ensure compliance with coding guidelines and payer policies.
- Collaborate with physicians and billing staff to clarify documentation and resolve coding queries.
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and healthcare compliance standards.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior coding staff to improve departmental efficiency.
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- CPC, CCS, or RHIT certification is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in a hospital or multi-specialty clinic.
- Extensive knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT coding manuals.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, such as Epic or Cerner.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for inter-departmental collaboration.
