Responsibilities
- Accurately assign ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes to inpatient and outpatient medical records.
- Perform medical record audits to ensure coding compliance and quality standards.
- Review claims for potential denials and work with billing staff to resolve issues.
- Mentor junior coders and provide training on coding updates and regulations.
- Stay current with industry changes, including CMS updates and ICD-10 coding guidelines.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation and ensure complete medical records.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical coding (Inpatient preferred).
- Current RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CCS-P certification.
- Deep understanding of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and privacy regulations.
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and coding software (e.g., 3M Encoder).
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
