Responsibilities
- Perform accurate medical coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) for inpatient and outpatient services.
- Conduct regular audits to identify and rectify coding errors and compliance issues.
- Review physician documentation to ensure it supports medical necessity and appropriate coding.
- Collaborate with billing and revenue cycle teams to resolve claims denials and discrepancies.
- Mentor junior coders and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical coding within a hospital or clinic setting.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding guidelines.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, such as Epic or Cerner.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in a high-volume environment.
