Responsibilities
- Review and submit medical claims (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) to insurance carriers with a focus on reducing denials and maximizing reimbursements.
- Analyze denied claims and develop effective appeals strategies to recover revenue.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and payer-specific billing guidelines.
- Collaborate with the revenue cycle management team to identify process improvements and optimize workflow efficiency.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and billing documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior billing staff, fostering a culture of excellence and accuracy.
Qualifications
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or RHIA/RHIT certification is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in medical billing, claims adjudication, or revenue cycle management.
- Deep knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex billing issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with payers and internal teams.
