Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical documentation to assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes.
- Conduct regular audits of coding practices to ensure compliance with HIPAA and CMS guidelines.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare providers to clarify clinical documentation.
- Mentor junior coders and participate in continuous education initiatives.
- Identify and resolve coding discrepancies to prevent claim denials.
- Utilize advanced EHR systems (Epic/Cerner) to streamline documentation workflows.
Qualifications
- Certification: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC (Certified Professional Coder).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in inpatient or outpatient coding.
- Deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Proficiency with medical billing software and EHR platforms.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
