Responsibilities
- Lead Product Design: Own the end-to-end mechanical design process, from concept sketches to final production drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Prototyping & Testing: Develop prototypes, conduct rigorous stress testing, and validate designs to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
- System Optimization: Analyze complex mechanical systems to improve efficiency, reduce friction, and enhance overall product longevity.
- Technical Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior engineers and interns, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Compliance & Documentation: Create detailed technical documentation, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and ensure all designs adhere to ISO and industry regulations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to resolve technical issues and streamline production workflows.
- Cost Reduction: Identify opportunities for material optimization and design simplification to reduce manufacturing costs without compromising quality.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Software Proficiency: Expert level in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo; experience with ANSYS or FEA analysis tools is a strong plus.
- Technical Skills: Deep understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), thermodynamics, and materials science.
- Problem Solving: Proven track record of troubleshooting complex mechanical failures and delivering innovative solutions.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet strict deadlines.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
