Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end mechanical design projects from concept validation through production release using SolidWorks and ANSYS
- Develop finite element analysis models to optimize structural integrity and thermal performance
- Create detailed technical documentation including assembly drawings, BOMs, and GD&T specifications
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to implement DFM/DFA principles for cost-effective production
- Drive innovation in lightweight material applications and additive manufacturing integration
- Mentor junior engineers and conduct design reviews to maintain quality standards
- Interface with suppliers to source specialized components and validate prototype performance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of automotive industry experience
- Expert proficiency in SolidWorks and simulation tools (ANSYS, Nastran)
- Proven track record of developing production-ready mechanical systems
- Familiarity with automotive testing standards (SAE J2411, ISO 16750)
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (injection molding, sheet metal, CNC)
- Certification in Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent quality methodology
- Experience with electric powertrain systems or autonomous vehicle components
- Excellent problem-solving skills with systematic root cause analysis approach
