Apex Robotics & Automation is seeking a visionary Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our elite R&D team in Detroit. You will play a pivotal role in designing next-generation automated systems, taking concepts from initial sketches through to large-scale production. Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and development of complex robotic systems and sub-assemblies.
- Perform detailed FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure product reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical and software engineers, to integrate system components seamlessly.
- Manage the full project lifecycle from conceptual design, rapid prototyping, and testing to final manufacturing.
- Create comprehensive engineering documentation, BOMs, and technical assembly manuals.
- Mentor junior engineering staff and conduct rigorous design reviews to maintain quality standards.
- Optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA) to maximize production efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- 5+ years of professional experience in robotics, aerospace, or automotive engineering.
- Expert-level proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks or NX preferred).
- Proven experience with motion control systems, actuators, and precision machined components.
- Strong understanding of material science, heat transfer, and mechanical dynamics.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project timelines in an agile, fast-paced development environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
