Responsibilities
- Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate high-value technology and intellectual property agreements, including SaaS contracts, NDAs, and licensing deals.
- Compliance & Risk: Advise senior leadership on regulatory requirements, including GDPR, CCPA, and emerging data privacy laws to minimize legal risk.
- IP Strategy: Manage the company’s patent portfolio, conduct freedom-to-operate analyses, and oversee trademark registrations.
- Regulatory Affairs: Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure products meet industry standards and legal frameworks.
- Legal Operations: Implement and improve contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools and streamline internal legal processes.
- Litigation Support: Oversee external counsel, manage litigation budgets, and represent the company in legal proceedings as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to the New York Bar or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on Technology, IP, or Corporate Law.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, cloud computing regulations, and data protection standards.
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide clear, actionable business advice.
- Communication: Superior written and verbal communication skills, capable of translating legal jargon for technical stakeholders.
- Tools: Familiarity with legal technology platforms (e.g., iManage, Ironclad) is a plus.
