Responsibilities
- Lead complex, long-term investigative projects from initial tip to final multimedia publication.
- Cultivate and maintain high-level confidential sources across government, corporate, and social sectors.
- Utilize advanced data journalism techniques and OSINT tools to uncover hidden trends and systemic issues.
- Collaborate with legal counsel and senior editors to ensure all reporting meets the highest ethical and accuracy standards.
- Transform dense investigative findings into compelling narrative features for digital, print, and audio platforms.
- Mentor junior reporters and contribute to the overall investigative strategy of the newsroom.
- Represent the organization in public forums, interviews, and industry conferences.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in professional investigative journalism at a major outlet.
- A proven portfolio of high-impact stories that have led to policy changes or received industry recognition.
- Exceptional narrative writing skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into engaging copy.
- Expert-level proficiency in FOIA/FOIL requests, public records searches, and financial document analysis.
- Strong understanding of media law, including libel, privacy, and protection of sources.
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
