Responsibilities
- Lead in-depth investigations on critical societal issues (government accountability, social justice, economic inequality)
- Develop and maintain confidential sources while adhering to strict journalistic ethics
- Produce high-impact multimedia content (print, video, podcasts, interactive graphics)
- Collaborate with editors to shape story angles and publication strategy
- Mentor junior journalists through editorial guidance and best practices
- Contribute to data-driven journalism using visualization tools and statistical analysis
- Represent Metro Chronicle at industry events and conferences
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of investigative journalism experience at recognized media outlets
- Proven track record of impactful stories with measurable social/political impact
- Exceptional research and interview techniques with deep source cultivation skills
- Mastery of multimedia storytelling (video editing, audio production, data visualization)
- Strong understanding of legal considerations (FOIA requests, libel, privacy laws)
- Ability to manage complex projects with multiple deadlines and stakeholders
- Portfolio demonstrating significant investigative work with measurable outcomes
- Journalism degree or equivalent professional certification required
