Responsibilities
- Lead complex, long-form investigations from initial conception through to multi-platform publication.
- Develop and nurture a network of high-level confidential sources and whistleblowers across government and corporate sectors.
- Utilize advanced data scraping and forensic analysis techniques to uncover hidden trends and systemic anomalies.
- Collaborate with the legal and compliance teams to ensure all reporting meets the highest standards of journalistic ethics and media law.
- Produce high-impact multimedia content, including scripts for investigative podcasts and documentary features.
- Mentor junior reporters and contribute to the overarching editorial strategy of the investigative desk.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in investigative journalism with a proven portfolio of high-stakes work.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Mastery of public records requests (FOIA) and sophisticated deep-web research methodologies.
- Exceptional narrative writing skills with the ability to distill complex data sets into compelling, human-centric stories.
- Demonstrated experience in data journalism tools such as SQL, Python, or advanced Excel for investigative purposes.
- Strong understanding of U.S. media law, defamation standards, and constitutional protections.
