Responsibilities
- Evaluate complex insurance applications to assess risk exposure and determine appropriate coverage terms
- Analyze financial data, market trends, and regulatory changes to inform underwriting decisions
- Collaborate with brokers and clients to gather additional information and negotiate policy terms
- Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines while ensuring adherence to compliance standards
- Review and renew existing policies to maintain optimal risk balance
- Prepare detailed underwriting reports and present recommendations to senior leadership
- Mentor junior underwriters to enhance team capabilities and knowledge sharing
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of commercial insurance underwriting experience
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data
- Professional designations (CPCU, ARM, AU) or willingness to pursue
- Expert knowledge of insurance regulations and compliance requirements
- Proficiency in underwriting software (e.g., Duck Creek, Guidewire)
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Proven track record of balancing risk management with profitability goals
