Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for commercial and property & casualty insurance applications.
- Determine appropriate coverage limits, deductibles, and premium rates based on risk analysis.
- Review and approve policy renewals and endorsements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state regulations.
- Collaborate with brokers, agents, and clients to negotiate terms and explain complex policy details.
- Utilize actuarial data and market trends to identify emerging risks and adjust underwriting strategies accordingly.
- Maintain and update underwriting guidelines to reflect changes in the insurance market.
- Monitor portfolio performance and implement strategies to improve loss ratios.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial underwriting or a related field.
- Valid New York State Insurance License (P&C or Life).
- Proficiency in underwriting software such as Duck Creek, Guidewire, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial and statistical data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Deep understanding of risk management principles and regulatory frameworks (NY DFS, NAIC).
- BS/BA degree in Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
